Set Apart Music For Youth And Adults

I recently received an email from a young sista in college asking me for advice on which type of music should our youth listen to today. She’s new to the Hebrew faith and wanted to know if there was some good music out there from the Hebrew Israelite community — that still had rhythm and soul like hip hop and R&B — that her and other college students would like to listen to. I thought this was a great question, because I assume many people both young and old, who are new to this walk, are probably searching for some good music to listen to (outside of gospel) as well.

I say that because I also was on the hunt for some good, set-apart music (from our own people) when I first came into the walk. Fortunately for me, I was able to find and connect with some Hebrews online over the years who created music that I enjoy listening to. Now, I don’t know many artists our there that make GOOD set apart music but I will share the few with you who I enjoy listening to. So if you’ve been on the hunt for some Hebrew Israelite artists that create set apart music with the same skill level that mainstream artists have, then here are some of my favorite artists below.

Hadassah Queen O

hadassah queen oHadassah is one of the best female artists in the music game, hands down! She is a seasoned rapper with amazing lyrical skills that can also sing melodies and hooks. Her music genre is hip hop but all of her songs have a message of upliftment and encouragement that gives YAH the praise. If you like fast-pace music with dope lyrics that makes your body move, then you’ll love Hadsassah Queen O (HQO). My favorite album of hers is called UPLIFT, but she also has a great new album out called ESTEEM.

I recently discovered Chaazawan online too. along with his excellent teachings on his YouTube channel, Tribe of Judah Teach, he brings out excellent insights. Lauryn Hill is also another favourite of mine, and I have wondered if she has discovered who she truly is. Thanks for doing this post.
